James Dooley: Yeah. In my opinion, if you're a business owner, you should always be looking for a professional lead generation agency. The key difference between a professional agency and many of the ones popping up left and right is that a lot of these newer companies are selling shared leads. Many of the leads aren’t even real-time—they’re reselling old data, sometimes two or three weeks later. A professional outfit will provide you with real-time, exclusive leads. Kasra Dash: Apart from real-time exclusive leads, what else should people be looking for? For example, if I'm a solar panel installation company, would it be better to go with a lead gen company that only does solar panels, or should I branch out? James Dooley: A professional lead generation company will always ensure you’re tracking all your KPIs. The main KPI is your return on investment—how much you're spending with the lead generation company versus how much you're getting back. A lot of people get obsessed with cost per lead, paying something like £40 per lead, without knowing the conversion rate. A proper agency will sit down and work out the impressions, clicks, number of leads they can generate, cost per lead, cost per acquisition, and then evaluate your profit margins. They might also help improve your average transactional value or lifetime value. The goal is ensuring you're getting a return on investment by going after the right leads that convert into profit. Kasra Dash: Yeah, a lot of businesses only care about getting a £20 cost per lead or whatever number they’re fixated on. But we have that famous story from years ago where we cared about the cheapest CPL. Once we dug deeper, we found that paying an extra four or five pounds actually increased our conversion rate dramatically—more traffic turned into paying customers.
