Kasra Dash: Today we're talking about the best lead generation strategies that are actually working with 2025 algorithms. James and I speak with a lot of companies in different niches — plumbers, solar installers, kitchen remodelers — so we have a lot of data on what works and what doesn’t. Take it away, James. What’s working in 2025? James Dooley: One of the first things every business should do is properly set up their Google Business Profile. Every time you complete a job, proactively ask the client to leave a five-star review. Most customers don’t leave reviews unless you ask, and they usually don’t know where to leave a GBP review. Build out your map listing, post regularly, upload photos, and fully complete your profile. Most local businesses don’t do this, and it generates a strong flow of leads. Kasra, what else would you add on top of GBP? Kasra Dash: I’d go in the same direction but expand into full SEO. A lot of business owners think SEO is just building a website or getting a high RankMath or Yoast score. That’s not enough. You need high-quality backlinks, verified citations, case studies, and blog articles. Think of the questions your customers are likely to ask and create video content, blogs, or short-form content around those questions. This massively increases the chances of your brand showing up for competitive keywords — whether you’re a plumber, solar installer, or kitchen remodeler. James Dooley: Another big strategy businesses miss is installing a retargeting pixel. If you’re spending money on SEO or backlinks, you should be retargeting people on Meta — Facebook and Instagram. Most companies don’t set up the pixel, and it’s a huge missed opportunity. Kasra Dash:
A few other things: PPC can work well, but it gets expensive fast if no one is managing it. Without constant audits, you can burn through money, especially if you aren’t maintaining a strong negative keyword list.
For example, if you're an accounting firm and you run a campaign, you might start showing up for “accounting jobs.” All the university graduates will click your ads and waste your budget. If you're going to do PPC, hire someone who manages it actively — auditing, cleaning keywords, and avoiding click fraud. James Dooley: Cold calling, cold email, and LinkedIn outreach still work, but conversion rates are much lower. You need large volume — hitting 5,000 people per day, then filtering and nurturing. It works, but it’s definitely outbound, not inbound. What's your take on using third-party lead generation companies? Kasra Dash: It can definitely work. There are many options — Fat Rank, Checkatrade, Bark, and more. But the biggest mistake businesses make is not tracking KPIs. Businesses spend thousands per year on different platforms — but they don’t know their ROI. Track your KPIs. If Premium Yellow Pages isn’t giving your money back, switch it off and double down elsewhere — maybe PPC, maybe Fat Rank, maybe SEO. James Dooley: Exactly. If you're searching for the best lead generation strategies, you can’t know what’s best unless you track KPIs. Alright Kasra, I’ll put you on the spot. I’ll share my top three strategies, then you tell me if you disagree.
Number one: Fat Rank. Yes, I'm the founder, but Fat Rank provides guaranteed ROI, real-time exclusive leads, and you only pay when you get paid.
Number two: SEO for your own website. You shouldn’t rely 100% on a third-party provider. Having your own lead flow is important.
Number three: The retargeting pixel on Meta.
Would you change that order? Kasra Dash: He’s biased. But yes, I agree with your top two. Fat Rank is a no-brainer — no risk for the business owner. You don’t pay per lead; you only pay Fat Rank when you get paid. SEO would also be my number two. If you combine Fat Rank with a strong SEO presence — positive reviews, case studies, a trustworthy brand — they complement each other perfectly. For number three, instead of Meta, I’d choose YouTube. With YouTube, long-form videos help build trust. For visual industries like kitchen remodeling, before-and-after videos work incredibly well. For less visual industries, Meta might be better, but YouTube is strong for many niches. James Dooley: If you're searching for the best lead generation strategies, go through our channel and learn about exclusive leads, real-time leads, and platform comparisons — Checkatrade, Bark, TrustATrader, and more. Everything comes back to tracking KPIs. Compare your strategies, double down on what works, and shut off what doesn’t. If someone uses FatRank for six months and it doesn't work, switch it off — you owe nothing. We only get paid on conversions.
