In this episode, James Dooley and Kasra Dash break down one of the most important questions business owners ask: What is the safest lead generation strategy today? While every industry—from solar to EV to e-commerce—operates differently, the hosts explain why partnering with a proven lead generation company remains the most reliable, lowest-risk starting point. With commission-based partnerships, businesses avoid paying upfront for SEO, PPC, websites, content, or calls. Instead, the lead gen provider carries the cost and risk, and the business pays only for results.
Kasra also unpacks why other methods, while valuable, come with higher risk. Pay-per-lead systems can drain budgets if leads don’t convert. SEO offers long-term benefits but is often undermined by poor-quality agencies and slow ranking timelines. PPC introduces additional uncertainty through click fraud, irrelevant traffic, and poor keyword targeting. For e-commerce brands, social media ads and affiliate marketing become essential, especially when customers aren’t actively searching for products.
The episode closes with a practical message: although hiring a lead generation company is the safest route, real long-term growth happens when businesses adopt an omnichannel approach—combining SEO, PPC, social media, paid ads, and affiliate partnerships to build predictable, scalable lead flow.

James Dooley: Today we’re talking about the safest lead generation method. Obviously different businesses need different strategies, but we’re covering all bases so by the end you’ll understand what type of lead generation or marketing you should focus on.

Kasra Dash: In my opinion, the safest strategy is hiring a lead generation company. You can track KPIs, see what works, measure ROI, and if it’s not working, you switch companies until you find one that delivers returns. That’s what makes it the safest.

James Dooley: Fair enough. But what keywords should a business search for? Let’s say a solar company in Manchester wants to grow—what should they type?

Kasra Dash: I’d search commission-based lead generation company. Why? Because you’re not paying for the website, content, backlinks, SEO, PPC, or calls. All the costs and risk are with the lead gen company, and you only pay commission on jobs won. But very few companies offer this. We do at FatRank because we aim for guaranteed ROI and long-term relationships.

James Dooley: What about credit-based or pay-per-lead systems?

Kasra Dash: They’re still risky. You might pay for a lead that doesn’t convert—bad credit, wrong area, low budget. Lead quality may improve over time, but most agencies won’t hyper-segment leads for you.

James Dooley: Let’s talk SEO.

Kasra Dash: SEO is long-term and risky because many agencies are poor-quality and can harm rankings. It’s nowhere near as safe as using a lead generation company.

James Dooley: PPC?

Kasra Dash: Even riskier—click fraud, wasted clicks, missing negative keywords. You pay for clicks, not conversions.

James Dooley: And for e-commerce?

Kasra Dash: Social media ads and affiliate marketing become more relevant because customers often aren’t actively searching. Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube work well.

James Dooley: So what’s the takeaway?

Kasra Dash: The safest method is hiring a proven lead generation company. But ideally, you should combine everything—lead gen company, SEO, PPC, social ads, affiliates. Omnichannel is the long-term play.
