What starts as a conversation about Google Business optimisation expands into a complete roadmap covering PPC, Facebook ads, AI search visibility, tradespeople platforms, and the real numbers behind inbound vs. outbound lead performance.
Kasra Dash: If you’re a pest control company looking for a consistent flow of inquiries every day, this video is for you. Myself and James have worked with a lot of pest control companies across the UK, so we know exactly which strategies work, which don’t, and what you should completely avoid. We’ll break everything down step by step. James, take it away. James Dooley: Step one is your Google Business Profile. If you already have one, reach out to your existing clients and get as many five-star reviews as possible. It’s one of the best ways to generate more local leads. You should also get citations, post regularly, and upload photos to optimise it fully. Kasra Dash: Step two builds on your Google Business Profile. Create dedicated, SEO-optimised service pages for each service you offer. These pages will rank individually, but they also increase the chances of your Google Business Profile appearing for those keywords and generating more phone calls. James Dooley: If you want more local leads, you can also use PPC lead generation — pay-per-click ads on Google or Bing. You’ll target bottom-of-funnel keywords to generate inquiries. But make sure you work with a good PPC agency. There’s click fraud, and you need a solid negative keyword list to avoid irrelevant clicks. PPC works, but in the wrong hands it can waste a lot of money. Kasra Dash: You’ve also got Meta ads — Facebook and Instagram. When someone scrolls through their feed, they might see your ad. You can run lead form ads, which are easy but often low-quality unless you add qualifying questions. Or you can run conversion ads that send traffic to your website so they fill out your contact form. James Dooley:
Another option for more local leads is organic social media: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, Reddit, Quora, anything where people ask questions you can answer.
Kasra Dash: Organic social is a volume game. You need a schedule — daily or weekly. For example, uploading five videos a week. Platforms like YouTube and Twitter reward consistency. James Dooley: What’s your opinion on using AI agents to automate and schedule social posts? Is it worth teaming up with someone to set up automation tools like NATN? AI is everywhere now for lead generation. Kasra Dash: You can definitely use AI agents to crop videos and autopublish to multiple platforms. But you should also focus on AI search. People are slowly shifting from Google to engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Groq. If your brand isn’t showing up on these platforms, you’ll miss out on leads. So AI search optimisation is another priority. James Dooley: If you want more local leads, another thing is partnering with tradespeople platforms: Checkatrade, Bark, Builder Builder, TrustATrader, Rated People. These can generate a lot of leads, but track your KPIs — cost per lead, cost per acquisition, and ROI. We also have videos comparing these platforms to FatRank, so check the links in the description. What do you think about lead generation companies vs. tradespeople sites, Kasra? Kasra Dash: With any lead generation company, do your due diligence. Make sure they’ve generated leads in your niche before. Have a strategy call with them: share your budget and ideal lead volume. Also ask if the leads are exclusive or shared. Shared leads — like Bark or Checkatrade — create a race to the bottom on pricing. Know what type of leads you’re buying before partnering. James Dooley: If anyone wants local business leads, head to fatrank.com. We run commission-based lead generation — you pay only when a job converts. No cost per lead, no payment upfront. You only pay a finder’s fee once you’ve completed the job and been paid. What’s your take on inbound vs. outbound lead generation? Kasra Dash: I always prefer inbound. The conversion rate is much higher. The last stat I saw was around 16.1% conversion for inbound vs. 1.4% for outbound. That’s a massive difference. Outbound requires a lot more volume — cold calling, cold emails, LinkedIn outreach — and often more staff. People think outbound is “free leads” but there are still costs: email tools, labour, admin, sales teams. James Dooley: Some people also ask whether real-time leads matter — leads that come through instantly. Kasra Dash: Yes, they do. From our internal KPIs, real-time leads convert about 63% higher. And response time matters too. Under one minute gives the highest success rate. We used to think five minutes was good, but under a minute drastically increases conversions. James Dooley: Not every company can respond that fast — holidays, missed calls, no one available. These things affect lead performance. When partnering with companies at FatRank, that’s one of the biggest issues we see. But if you want high-quality, consistent leads, fill out the form at FatRank. If you're not the right fit, we’ll tell you why and what to fix next. Kasra Dash:
We generate a lot of pest control leads: wasp nest removal, bee nest removal, pigeon issues in lofts, and more. Head to fatrank.com — we hope you’re the next pest control company we can generate leads for.
