James Dooley: So James, I am a local business and I want more local leads in my area for my company. What are some things that you recommend I should do? Kasra Dash: Having a local lead generation agency is key, in my opinion. I’d also be trying to generate some in-house local leads as well. Over at fatank.com, we’re a local lead generation company that provides businesses—whether you're an electrician, plumber, roofer, doing solar panels, or commercial cleaning—with local leads designed to maximise your profit. So I would definitely head over to fatank.com and fill in the form. Aside from that, there are different types of leads and different places to generate them. You’ll know this very well yourself, James—Google Maps and Google Business Profiles are huge. If you can get a lot of five-star reviews and citations, you can rank higher in the map pack, which is massive for local lead generation. So from a local lead gen standpoint, what other strategies would you consider? Would you run Facebook ads or anything similar? James Dooley: Yeah, you’ve got Meta ads—which includes Facebook and Instagram—and they work well, especially if you're in a bigger area. For example, in Manchester, Birmingham or London, you can very quickly generate a lot of leads, though you still need to focus on quality. You've got PPC as well, where you can restrict the area. You can say, “I only want my ads to show within a 10-mile radius of this postcode, town or city.” That's one route. You can also start doing local SEO. You've got your map pack, but also your website. So you could target pages like “plumbers in Manchester” and try to rank for that. And lastly, you’ve got sites like Bark, Checkatrade, Fat Rank—places where you can list and start getting leads. Kasra Dash: Yeah, for sure. Anyone watching this—if you own a local business and you want more leads—diversification is key. But the most important thing is tracking the ROI across every platform. Like James mentioned—Checkatrade, Build a Builder, Yellow Pages, Bark—these are all great places for local leads. But make sure you track KPIs for each one. Compare Checkatrade with Fat Rank, or Bark with Fat Rank, and check which platform gives you the highest return on investment. Then look at whether your local SEO is actually worth it or not. Find out what gives you the highest ROI—and double down on those local lead generation sources.
