They do not know where the enquiries are coming from and they do not know the quality of those leads. The first step is to build a predictable system using KPIs. You need to know exactly how much money is being spent on each marketing channel. You also need to track how many leads are generated from each channel, what the contact rate is for those leads and how many of the contacted leads turn into paying customers. Once those KPIs are in place, marketing stops being a guessing game and becomes a predictable system, which is what every business owner wants. James, for a Swansea based business, what would you recommend as the first marketing channel?

The next strategy is AI visibility. More companies are looking into this area. What do ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok and Perplexity say about your brand or your business? Is the information positive or negative? You should also examine what those platforms say about your competitors and identify ways to improve your own presence. Some people refer to this as AI SEO, others call it GEO or LLM optimisation. Whatever the name, it is becoming an important part of digital marketing in 2026 and beyond.

Kasra Dash: That is definitely a major strategy because more people are using artificial intelligence tools when researching products or services. For example, a plumbing company could create pages for plumbing services in different cities. Those pages can also be linked to your Google Business Profile to strengthen local visibility. The goal is to create high quality content, build topical authority and secure backlinks from other websites. These elements help strengthen your site and improve organic search rankings.

Kasra Dash: Another strategy that ties into this is organic social media. Organic social media is very much a numbers game. Businesses need to create content that their audience actually wants to see. I often see brands with only a few posts on Instagram that have not been active for years. That approach will not drive sales. Instead businesses should publish guides, tutorials or before and after examples of their work. This type of content attracts attention and encourages people to click through to your website to learn more about your services. Organic social media is free to publish, but consistency is important. Posting three or four times a week can help improve visibility.

James Dooley: On the topic of social media, paid social advertising is another important channel.
