Have you been able to contact five out of ten, two out of ten, or more? The final and most important metric is the actual revenue generated per channel. Has it been £1,000, £10,000 or £3,000? These are the KPIs I would be tracking before spending any money on marketing. James, take it away with the first marketing channel.

James Dooley: Step number one for me has got to be branding or brand SEO and making sure you look good online. You need a strong reputation. Everything starts with a positive brand SERP, which stands for search engine results page. When people search your business, what they see needs to build trust. If you get your branding right, it improves your conversion rate across paid ads and social media. When customers are deciding who to go with, branding becomes critical. That is the foundation of every digital marketing strategy. The next strategy is AI visibility. More businesses are starting to look at this. What do ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok and Perplexity say about your business? Is the sentiment positive or negative? You also need to look at what these platforms say about your competitors and find ways to improve your positioning. Some people call this AI SEO, others call it GEO or LLM optimisation. Regardless of the label, this is going to be a major strategy in 2026 and beyond.

Kasra Dash: AI visibility is massive because more users are relying on AI to research businesses. Another strategy is using services like Fat Rank or Promo SEO, which offer commission based lead generation for UK businesses. Many businesses post a few times and then stop, which does nothing. You should focus on useful content such as guides, how to posts and before and after results. This type of content drives clicks and enquiries. It is free, but it requires consistency. Posting three or four times per week is a solid baseline.

James Dooley: Paid social ads take that content further. If you are already posting, boosting posts with a small budget increases reach. Even a few pounds per day can make a difference. Case studies, testimonials and awards perform well. Retargeting ads also help you capture users who have already visited your site. Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest and Reddit all offer strong advertising opportunities. Paid social is still underused.
