Kasra Dash: So, if you're an electrician looking for a consistent flow of inquiries, we're going to cover all of the lead generation strategies to help your business grow. I'm joined by James, and we’ll be breaking everything down today.

Step number one: the first thing I’d focus on is your Google Business Profile. If you already have one, reach out to all your existing clients to get as many five-star reviews as possible. GBP is a great way to generate more leads. You should also build citations, post on your profile, and upload photos. That’s definitely step one for generating local leads.

James Dooley: Step number two to support your Google Business Profile is to create dedicated service pages for every individual service you offer—SEO-optimized pages on your website. Doing this helps you rank both the service pages and increases the likelihood of your GBP ranking for relevant keywords. So it indirectly increases your phone calls as well. Kasra Dash: For sure. And if you're looking for more local leads, another option is PPC—pay-per-click within Google or Bing. You target bottom-of-funnel keywords that generate inquiries. The difficult part is making sure you team up with a good PPC agency because there’s click fraud, and you also need a strong negative keyword list so you don’t attract job-seekers or irrelevant traffic. PPC can work well, but in the wrong hands you can waste a lot of money. Still, it’s another way to generate local leads. James Dooley: Yeah. And then you’ve also got Meta ads—Facebook and Instagram. When someone scrolls through Facebook, they might see your ad. There are two approaches:

Lead forms: Easy to set up, they don’t leave Facebook. But the lead quality can be lower unless you ask more qualifying questions.

Conversion ads: These send people to your website, where they fill out your contact form.

You've got a couple of options with Meta ads depending on your goals. Kasra Dash: Another way to grow local leads is organic social media—posting regularly on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, Reddit, and Quora. These platforms can generate leads when you're active and providing value. James Dooley: With organic social media, it’s a volume game. You need to upload consistently—a daily or weekly schedule. For example, uploading five videos a week and sticking to it helps with algorithms like YouTube and Twitter. What are your thoughts on using AI agents or tools like NATN to automate social media posting? Would you recommend teaming up with an AI consultant to set that up? Kasra Dash: You can absolutely go down that route. AI agents can crop videos and auto-publish to YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter. But I’d also focus on AI search. More people are beginning to search through ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Grok. If your brand isn’t showing up on these engines, you'll miss out on leads. So AI search optimization is becoming essential. James Dooley: Another strategy is partnering with tradespeople websites—Checkatrade, Bark, BuilderBuilder, TrustATrader, Rated People. These platforms can generate local leads. Make sure you track KPIs like cost per lead, cost per acquisition, and return on investment. And check the links in the description—we’ve compared Checkatrade vs FatRank, Bark vs FatRank, Rated People vs FatRank, and BuilderBuilder vs FatRank. Since I’ve mentioned FatRank a few times, Kasra, what are your thoughts on lead generation companies vs trades platforms? Kasra Dash: With lead generation companies, you must do due diligence. Make sure they’ve generated leads in your niche. Have a strategy call with them—explain your budget and target number of leads. Also clarify whether the leads are exclusive or shared. Shared leads are a common issue with platforms like Bark and Checkatrade. Business owners often complain that shared leads turn into a race to the bottom on price. These are important questions to ask before partnering with a lead gen company. James Dooley: For anyone interested in more local leads, head to FatRank.com. We offer a commission-based lead generation service. You only pay a finder’s fee on converted jobs. No cost per lead. No payment until you get paid from a completed job. Kasra, what’s your take on inbound vs outbound lead generation? Kasra Dash: I always prefer inbound. The conversion rate is much higher. The last statistic I saw was around 16.1% conversion for inbound leads versus 1.4% for outbound. James Dooley: That’s crazy. That’s a 10–12x higher conversion rate. Outbound—cold calling, cold email, LinkedIn—requires volume and often more staff. And people forget there are hidden costs: email tools, outreach tools, sales staff. What about real-time leads? Some people ask if real-time delivery matters. Kasra Dash: Real-time leads are extremely important. The stat we found internally was that real-time leads convert around 63% higher. And responding within under a minute dramatically increases the chance of closing the job. Many people think 5 minutes is good, but under a minute is the real gold standard. Not every company can respond that fast, but at FatRank we evaluate this when partnering with businesses. Some companies fall short because they go on holiday or don’t have someone available to take calls, even though we’re still delivering leads. James Dooley: The best advice for anyone wanting to scale and get a consistent flow of high-quality leads is to fill out the form at FatRank. The team will assess if you’re the right fit and give feedback on next steps even if you’re not. We hope you enjoyed all of these lead generation strategies to grow your electrician business. If you're a UK-based electrician looking for a consistent flow of inquiries, head to FatRank.com. We work with many electricians across the UK.
