In this episode, James Dooley sits down with Kasra Dash to break down the most effective strategies for scaling an electrician business in today’s digital-first landscape. Kasra Dash opens the conversation by emphasizing the power of strong online brand presence—high-quality websites, accreditations, case studies, testimonials, and conversion-focused design. He highlights that SEO isn’t just about on-site optimization but also about dominating search results with positive brand signals across the internet.
Kasra Dash explains why electricians should prioritize multimedia content—photos, videos, and social posts—to build trust and visibility. He also shares why FatRank.com only works with electricians who have a professional online presence, making their pay-per-converted-lead model risk-free and designed to deliver consistent inbound inquiries.
The discussion then shifts to traditional marketing, which both agree is ineffective for service-based trades due to its high cost and lack of trackability. In contrast, digital channels such as SEO and PPC provide measurable ROI. Kasra Dash warns, however, that PPC can quickly burn cash unless used strategically for niche, high-value services.
The episode concludes with Kasra Dash’s two-part growth formula for electricians: invest in strong SEO and partner with reliable lead generation companies. This combination offers a predictable and scalable path to long-term business growth.

James Dooley: So if I’m an electrician and I want to scale my company’s revenue, how would you go about doing it?

Kasra Dash: If you're looking to grow an electrician business, the first thing I’d focus on is brand presence online. I’d look at SEO—making sure the website looks high-quality, has the right accreditations, case studies, testimonials, and is built for conversion. When someone visits your site, they should immediately think, “These look good. I want to use them.” SEO is not just what’s on your site—it’s everything across the internet. If someone searches your business name, they should see your website plus multiple pages saying positive things about you. I’d also want lots of images and videos shared across all social media platforms. If I have a strong offer, I’d consider running ads too. At FatRank.com, we work with a lot of electricians. We ask what they specialize in—rewiring, commercial, residential, etc. We decline businesses that don’t have a professional online presence. For those that do, it’s risk-free: we generate leads, and they only pay for converted jobs. That gives them a consistent flow of inquiries without upfront cost.

James Dooley: What about traditional marketing? Billboards, radio, TV? Do you think that could work?

Kasra Dash: No. You can’t track it. A £6,000 billboard is impossible to measure. When was the last time you drove past a billboard and remembered it long enough to act on it? Traditional marketing works for short-term events like theatre shows, but not for service-based industries like electricians. You can’t track KPIs or ROI. With online marketing—PPC, Facebook ads, SEO—you must know what you’re spending and what ROI you’re getting. SEO is a long play, but it converts, builds your brand, and increases your business valuation. If you're generating your own consistent flow of inquiries, your multiplier when selling your company goes up. The problem is there are many cowboys in SEO, so choose carefully. Then, team up with lead generation companies. Test two or three; don’t rely on one source. Find the best lead generation company for electricians—that alone can scale your business significantly.

James Dooley: SEO definitely helps—reviews, testimonials, and strong social media presence. One thing we haven’t talked about is PPC. Many electricians spend money on PPC but have no idea where results are coming from. They spend a couple grand on PPC, a couple grand on SEO, a couple grand on Facebook ads—but PPC leads are expensive unless you go after long-tail keywords, which most PPC agencies don’t do.

Kasra Dash: Completely agree. PPC is expensive. Later, if you discover you’re brilliant at converting one specific high-value service, then yes—you can run ads for that one service. But if you bid on general “electrician” keywords, you’ll burn money. You might pay £250 for a lead that turns into an £80 socket replacement. Huge loss. So PPC is the last thing I’d do. First, get SEO right. Then team up with a lead generation company. Those two steps alone can grow an electrician business massively.
