In this episode, James Dooley and Kasra Dash break down the realities of growing a profitable locksmith business in one of the toughest emergency-response niches. The discussion begins with the simple but urgent scenario of someone being locked out of their home—a moment when speed, visibility, and trust determine which locksmith gets the job. Kasra Dash explains why locksmiths cannot rely on traditional marketing or social media and why emergency intent means search engines dominate this market. Together, they identify the three pillars every locksmith must master: PPC, SEO, and Google Business Profile optimisation.
The conversation explores how click-to-call ads, location-based service pages, and rapid phone response times directly influence conversion rates. James Dooley also reveals how FatRank’s lead generation model works exclusively on converted jobs, creating a fair system where locksmiths only pay when they get results. Kasra Dash emphasises the power of Google reviews collected immediately on-site to dramatically increase ranking visibility and local trust signals.
Listeners learn what truly matters for emergency service businesses: answering the phone instantly, optimising for every area you cover, and building an online footprint strong enough to appear exactly when customers are desperate for help. By the end, the episode delivers a practical, actionable roadmap for locksmiths wanting more enquiries, higher conversions, and stronger long-term growth.

James Dooley: So I’ve been locked out of the house and I'm trying to grow a locksmith business. What would you recommend? How would you do it? If I’m the owner of a locksmith business and someone is looking to generate enquiries for people locked out of their house or car, what would you do? Kasra Dash: Well, I wouldn’t start with Facebook ads. When you’re locked out, you’re not sitting there scrolling through Facebook waiting to see an ad. Some niches work on Facebook, but locksmithing is an emergency niche. Anything emergency-related—repairs, locksmiths—falls under search intent. For search, there are really only three major channels to grow a locksmith company: PPC, Google Business Profile, and your organic website. James Dooley: I group Google Business Profile with SEO. So yes—PPC, SEO, and a lead generation company. Traditional marketing doesn’t really work here. You only need a locksmith when you’re locked out, so billboards or radio ads don’t move the needle. Even Facebook ads and organic social are weak. The only social content I’d keep is brand trust content—just enough so people recognise your number if they ever need you. Kasra Dash: Exactly. For SEO, you have two areas: your website and your Google Business Profile on Google Maps. If you’re a locksmith covering Manchester, you should build location pages—Locksmith Oldham, Locksmith Eccles, Locksmith Salford—so you show up when people search by postcode. And your call-to-action must be clear. Nobody is filling forms when they’re locked out. They want a phone number and fast response time—answering within two or three seconds. James Dooley: We generate a lot of locksmith leads at FatRank.com. You only pay for converted jobs. But what you said is key—we need to know you can actually answer the phone. If you miss the call, that lead goes to the next locksmith on the page. There’s barely a price battle—it’s all about who can get there fastest. Kasra Dash: This is where PPC can work with click-to-call ads. It’s expensive, especially for locksmiths, but it can convert well if you answer quickly. And then the third channel is SEO—ranking your website and Google Business Profile. One thing I highly recommend is collecting reviews. When you get someone back in their home, they’re happy. Get review cards—websites like review-cards.com let you tap a card to open your Google profile instantly. When you’re standing in front of them, it’s the easiest time to get five-star reviews. James Dooley: Those reviews massively help rankings and trust. If anyone wants lead generation for locksmiths, head over to FatRank.com. Link is in the description.
