Kasra Dash: I'm joined with James Dooley, and today we're talking about how to grow a dental practice. I think we should start with new dental practices, then deep dive into more established ones. Let’s say you’ve franchised and you’ve got a dental practice in South Florida, and now you want to open another in Orlando. How would you go about doing that?

James Dooley: If you're looking to grow a dental company, the first thing I'd set up is a website, then do SEO. I'd want to rank on Google, Bing, and YouTube. Videos could show the dental practice, the facilities, cleanliness, testimonials, before-and-after teeth whitening, implants—everything. Promote your products and services everywhere online.

SEO is number one not just for leads, but for brand building. If I'm getting Invisalign or implants, I'll research, and I need to see case studies, trust factors, social media presence, before-and-afters, testimonials. Without these, people will go to competitors.

Kasra Dash: And if you're spending on photography and videography, you want to leverage that for social media—LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest. Be everywhere so people can trust you.

James Dooley: Also, use unique images. Stock photos destroy trust and they hurt Google Image rankings. This is a very visual niche—cosmetic dentistry. Rank on Google Images, Pinterest, Flickr.

If you're strong at a specific service—like Invisalign in Orlando—you can run PPC, but I wouldn’t run broad “cosmetic dentistry” ads because they’re too expensive. PPC works only when you have a strong hook, strong backend profit, and proper click fraud protection. Otherwise, it can drain your budget.

Kasra Dash: Yes, especially because people shop around. You might pay $50–$100 per click and the lead goes to a competitor. That’s why SEO is powerful. With SEO, even if they shop around, you stay visible. For PPC to work, you need trust factors, a profitable backend, and upsells—like whitening, yearly checkups, etc. That increases lifetime value, giving you room to spend more on marketing.

James Dooley: Traditional marketing—billboards, TV, radio—I’m not a fan. There’s no conversion tracking or clear ROI. It can work, but there are far better ways to spend that money. Run Facebook ads where you can filter demographics, like targeting 30–60-year-old females in Orlando.

Use SEO to target the right towns and services. Many business owners want their face on a big billboard, but as a mentor or fractional CMO, I’d rather allocate that money strategically.

Kasra Dash: Another effective strategy is sponsoring kids’ sports teams to get in front of families. Dentists want families. You can also do school visits teaching dental hygiene, though it’s less effective since kids aren’t decision-makers.

Influencer marketing also works—get local micro-influencers or B-list celebrities to come in for free whitening and share it with their followers. That exposes you to thousands of local potential patients.
