Kasra Dash: If you are a chartered surveyor looking to generate more business and more leads for your company, this video is for you. James and I have worked with many chartered surveyors throughout the UK, so we know what works for marketing strategy and how to consistently grow your business. In this video, we break everything down, including marketing strategies to avoid and the ones you should double down on. James, take it away. James Dooley: Step number one for growth is creating or optimising your Google Business Profile. If you already have one, reach out to your existing clients to gather as many five-star reviews as possible. A strong Google Business Profile is an excellent way to generate more leads. You should add citations, post regularly, and upload photos. This is the first thing I would do to generate more local leads. Kasra Dash: Step number two builds on your Google Business Profile. Create dedicated service pages for each of your individual services as SEO-optimised pages on your website. This helps your site rank higher, and it also increases the chance of your Google Business Profile ranking for those keywords as well. This leads to more visibility and more phone calls. James Dooley: If you need more local leads, PPC lead generation is another option. This includes pay-per-click ads on Google or Bing aimed at bottom-of-the-funnel keywords to generate enquiries. The challenge is making sure you partner with a good PPC agency due to risks like click fraud and the need for a strong negative keyword list. PPC can work brilliantly, but you can waste money in the wrong hands. Kasra Dash: You’ve also got Meta ads, such as Facebook and Instagram. When someone scrolls, they may see your ad. You can run lead form ads, which are easy because users don’t leave the Facebook platform, though the lead quality can vary. You can improve quality by adding more questions. You also have conversion ads that send traffic to your website where they fill out your contact form. You've got a couple of solid options there. James Dooley:

Another way to grow local leads is organic social media: posting regularly on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, Reddit, and Quora. If people have questions, you can answer them. Organic social is a great way to generate more local leads.

Kasra Dash: With organic content, it’s a volume game. You should upload consistently based on a schedule—daily or weekly. For example, you might post five videos a week and stick to that, especially for algorithms like YouTube and Twitter. James Dooley: What are your thoughts on using AI agents? Some people team up with specialists to use tools like N8N to automate or schedule social media posts. AI is everywhere now when it comes to lead generation. Would you team up with an AI consultant for this? Kasra Dash: You can definitely set up AI agents to crop videos and auto-publish to YouTube, Facebook, or Twitter. But I’d also focus on AI search. Many people are starting to use tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Groq. If your brand doesn’t appear in these AI engines, you’ll struggle to generate leads from them. This is another area I’d focus on as a company. James Dooley: If you want more local business leads, you can also partner with tradespeople platforms such as Checkatrade, Bark, Builder Builder, TrustATrader, and Rated People. These platforms can generate strong local leads. Track your KPIs: monitor cost per lead, cost per acquisition, and your return on investment. Check the links in the description—we compare platforms like Checkatrade vs FatRank, Bark vs FatRank, Rated People vs FatRank, and Builder Builder vs FatRank. Since I’ve mentioned FatRank a few times, Kasra, what are your thoughts on lead generation companies versus tradespeople platforms? Kasra Dash: With lead generation companies, you must do your due diligence. Make sure they’ve generated leads in your specific niche. Have a strategy call to outline your budget and lead targets to confirm your KPIs align. Also ask what type of leads they provide—exclusive leads or shared leads. Shared leads are common with platforms like Bark and Checkatrade. Many business owners we’ve spoken to say shared leads become a race to the bottom based on price. These are the questions to ask before partnering with a lead generation company. James Dooley: If anyone is interested in generating more local leads, head to fatrank.com, where we offer a commission-based lead generation service. You only pay a finder’s fee when you convert a job. You pay nothing per lead, nothing upfront, and nothing until the job is completed and you’ve been paid. Only then do you pay FatRank. Visit fatrank.com to see whether you qualify. Now, Kasra, what are your thoughts on inbound lead generation versus outbound lead generation? Kasra Dash: I always prefer inbound. The conversion rate—both for acquiring the lead and converting it into a paying customer depositing money into your business bank account—is much higher. The last statistic I saw was around 16.1% converting into a paying customer.
