In this episode of the UK Lead Generation Podcast, James Dooley and Kasra Dash break down the most effective ways concrete contractors can generate consistent local leads. James Dooley explains how Google Business Profile, customer reviews, citations, and optimised photos signal trust to search engines. Kasra Dash adds how SEO-specific service pages strengthen topical relevance and increase both organic rankings and Google Business Profile visibility. Together, they discuss PPC and the importance of avoiding click fraud, how lead forms and conversion ads behave on Meta platforms, and why organic posting volume still shapes reach across YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram. They explore how AI agents, scheduling tools, and AI search engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Grok now influence discovery, prompting contractors to future-proof their online presence. The hosts compare trades-people platforms such as Checkatrade, Bark, Rated People and TrustATrader with commission-based lead generation models, highlighting KPI tracking, cost per acquisition, and lead exclusivity. By contrasting inbound and outbound approaches, they show how clear targeting, brand consistency, and strategic platforms turn local demand into profitable concrete contractor enquiries.

Kasra Dash: If you are a concrete contractor looking for more leads and more business for your company, then this video is for you. Myself and James have dealt with a lot of different concrete contractors across the UK, and in this video we’re breaking down what works from a marketing strategy and what you should be avoiding. So, James, take it away. James Dooley: Step number one for growth is optimising your Google Business Profile. If you already have one, reach out to all your existing clients and get as many five-star reviews as possible. GBP is one of the best ways to generate more leads. Make sure you’re also getting citations, posting updates, and uploading photos. That’s always the first thing I’d do for more local leads. Kasra Dash: Step number two is to bolster your Google Business Profile by creating dedicated, SEO-optimised service pages for each service you offer. Not only will these pages rank organically, but they also increase the chances of your Google Business Profile ranking and appearing for more keywords, bringing in additional calls. James Dooley: If you want more local leads, PPC lead generation is another option — Google Ads or Bing Ads targeting bottom-of-funnel keywords. But you MUST partner with a good PPC agency because click fraud is common, and you need a solid negative keyword list to avoid irrelevant traffic like job-seekers. PPC works, but in the wrong hands, it becomes expensive. Kasra Dash: You also have Meta Ads — Facebook and Instagram. People scrolling will see your ad. You can run lead-form ads where users never leave Facebook (quick, but usually lower-quality), or conversion ads that send them to your website where they fill out a contact form. Both can work depending on how you set them up. James Dooley: Another strong option is organic social media — posting regularly on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, Reddit, or Quora. Answering questions, sharing work, and posting consistently can generate more leads locally. Kasra Dash: With organic social media, it’s a volume game. You need consistency: daily or weekly uploads. Commit to something like five videos a week. Platforms like YouTube and Twitter reward consistency. James Dooley: What about using AI agents for scheduling posts? Teaming up with someone who knows NAT or automation tools could help. What’s your view on using AI for lead generation? Kasra Dash: AI agents can definitely crop videos, automate uploads, and schedule posts across multiple platforms. But something else to focus on is AI search. People are slowly shifting to ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Groq, etc. If your brand isn’t showing up in these engines, you’ll struggle to generate leads in the future. James Dooley: Another option for local leads is partnering with trades-people websites — Checkatrade, Bark, Builder Builder, TrustATrader, Rated People. These platforms CAN work, but you need to track KPIs: cost per lead, cost per acquisition, and return on investment. And check our comparison videos in the description — we compare Checkatrade vs FatRank, Bark vs FatRank, and more. Kasra Dash: With lead generation companies, you MUST do due diligence. Make sure they have experience in your exact niche. Have a strategy call, check your KPIs, confirm if leads are exclusive or shared. Many trades websites use shared leads, and clients complain because it becomes a race to the bottom on price. James Dooley: If you want local leads, go to FatRank.com. We offer commission-based lead generation — you only pay a finder’s fee on converted jobs. No payment per lead, no payment until you get paid. Once you complete a job and receive payment, that’s when you pay FatRank. Check whether you qualify.
